The race for more human-like and efficient artificial intelligence is gaining new chapters every day. In the last 24 hours, we’ve seen significant moves by tech giants, especially Amazon, which seems determined to regain ground lost to OpenAI and Google. But we’ve also seen worrying challenges, such as the use of AI to create fake candidates in recruitment processes – a problem that could grow exponentially in the coming years.

Amazon launches Nova Sonic: the battle for more natural conversational AI

Amazon has just entered the race for more natural voice assistants with the launch of Nova Sonic. The new model promises native voice processing and generation of speech nearly indistinguishable from human speech. According to the company, Nova Sonic is about 80% cheaper than OpenAI's GPT-4o and has significant advantages in speed and speech recognition.

According to information from Olhar Digital, the model has an error rate of just 4.2% in multilingual tests and is 46.7% more accurate in noisy environments when compared to GPT-4o. Some of this technology is already being incorporated into Alexa, which could revitalize Amazon's voice assistant.

What I see here is an obvious strategy by Amazon to not fall behind in the race for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The company is clearly betting on voice interfaces as a gateway to a more human experience with AIs – something I have observed to be fundamental to the mass adoption of these technologies.

Act: the AI that browses the internet for you

Still speaking of Amazon, the company also launched Nova Act, an AI designed to use the internet instead. As reported by TechTudo, this AI uses an 'action-context' system to anticipate user needs based on past interactions.

The focus on autonomous agents is a trend that I have been following closely. We are entering the era of assistants that not only answer questions, but perform entire tasks over the internet.. This represents a fundamental shift in the way we interact with technology – from passive interfaces to active agents that work on our behalf.

The Real Danger: AI-Generated Candidates

As tech companies move forward with their AIs, a growing concern is emerging in the job market. Tecnoblog reports that American companies are facing an unusual problem: completely fake candidates, generated by AI, who are circumventing selection processes for remote positions.

These “candidates” use artificial intelligence to create fictitious resumes, falsify documents, and even alter their faces during video interviews. According to Gartner estimates, by 2028, one in four job applicants could be fake, generated by AI.

This scenario raises serious questions about data security and hiring processes. Companies that are not prepared to detect these frauds may end up hiring “people” who do not exist, compromising sensitive data and internal operations.. In my work with startups, I have been warning about the need to establish robust identity verification protocols, especially for remote positions.

The revolution of AI agents in the financial market

The financial sector has always been a pioneer in adopting advanced technologies, and AI is no different. Valor Investe reports How AI agents are transforming wealth management.

BlackRock’s Aladdin Copilot is a good example of this trend: the tool provides real-time reports and allows for early adjustments to portfolios based on market conditions. The World Wealth Report 2024 indicates that 711% of high-net-worth investors prioritize personalization – which is exactly what these AI agents offer.

What I see here is a convergence between AI and behavioral finance, creating systems that not only execute orders, but effectively anticipate investor needs and preferences. The value is not just in automation, but in the ability to understand human nuances in financial decisions.

Life-Saving AI: Revolutionizing Meteorology

One of the most noble applications of AI is in weather forecasting. According to UOL Ecoa, AI models are revolutionizing the ability to predict extreme weather events, operating in a matter of seconds or minutes, in contrast to traditional methods that took hours.

A concrete example was the prediction of Hurricane Beryl in 2024, which, thanks to the accurate prediction enabled by AI, resulted in less material damage and saved lives. The European Weather Forecast Centre implemented an AI-based system in 2024, substantially improving the accuracy of climate analysis.

This case perfectly illustrates what I always defend: The real AI revolution is not about replacing humans, but about enhancing our ability to solve complex problems and save lives.It is when technology meets purpose that we see its deepest value.

Google and healthcare: digital assistants in hospitals

Folha de S.Paulo reports Google has unveiled a digital assistant that is already helping doctors at a Seattle children's hospital. This assistant searches for medical history information and provides evidence-based assessments, streamlining the work of healthcare professionals.

The company announced plans to invest $1.4 billion this year to accelerate the development of AI products, with an emphasis on platforms for creating intelligent agents and applications without requiring advanced technical knowledge.

This democratization of AI development tools is something I follow with enthusiasm. When the ability to create AI-based solutions becomes accessible to more people, we open the door to innovation in areas that big tech companies may not prioritize.. In Brazil, I see enormous potential for startups that know how to take advantage of these platforms to create solutions adapted to local needs, especially in the healthcare sector.

Privacy and Risks: What Not to Share with ChatGPT

Not everything is rosy in the AI universe. Forbes Brazil warns about the dangers of sharing sensitive information with chatbots like ChatGPT. Data entered into these platforms is not immune to leaks and can be consulted by third parties.

Information we should never share includes illegal or unethical requests, login credentials, financial data, and personal medical information. The rule is simple: do not share with an AI anything you would not feel comfortable seeing published publicly.

This warning is especially relevant for startups and companies that are integrating AI tools into their workflows. In my mentoring sessions, I always emphasize the importance of establishing clear policies regarding the use of public AI and sensitive data. Enthusiasm for technology should not override good information security practices.

The Stylistic Debate: Hyphens and the Identification of AI-Generated Texts

A curious debate has recently emerged about AI-based identification of written texts. Estadão demystifies the idea that excessive use of dashes – dubbed the “ChatGPT hyphen” – would be a surefire indicator of AI-generated content.

This debate illustrates an interesting point: We are desperately seeking ways to differentiate the human from the artificial, but the boundaries are increasingly blurred.. In the future, I believe the issue will not be so much identifying whether content was generated by AI, but evaluating its quality, originality, and usefulness, regardless of its origin.

Intellectual property and AI: Mauricio de Sousa takes a stand

The debate on intellectual property and AI gained a national chapter with the position of Mauricio de Sousa Produções. According to InfoMoney, the company condemned the use of artificial intelligence to imitate Turma da Mônica comics, highlighting that all elements related to the characters are protected by copyright laws.

MSP stated that it believes AI should support, not replace, artistic creation, highlighting its values and commitment to ethics. This position reflects a global debate about the ethical and legal limits of using protected content to train and generate content for AI..

As an entrepreneur who has always valued creativity and intellectual property, I see this as just the beginning of a long debate about how to balance technological innovation and copyright protection. For AI startups, it will be crucial to adopt ethical practices from the outset, building technologies that respect and value human creative work.

The AI horizon: what can we expect?

Looking at the news from the last 24 hours, I see some clear trends forming on the AI horizon:

  • Humanization of interfaces: The search for more natural interactions with AI, especially via voice, will be a competitive differentiator;
  • Autonomous agents: We are evolving from passive assistants to agents that perform complete tasks autonomously;
  • Emerging risks: New security challenges, such as AI-generated fake identities, will require more robust verification protocols;
  • High impact applications: Areas such as meteorology and healthcare demonstrate the potential of AI to save lives and solve complex problems;
  • Ethical and legal debates: Questions about intellectual property, privacy and transparency will continue to be at the center of the debate.

For Brazilian entrepreneurs and companies, the moment demands attention and strategy. The speed at which these technologies advance creates both opportunities and pitfalls for those who are not prepared.. In my mentoring work with startups, I have observed that organizations that are able to integrate AI ethically and in line with clear purposes are the ones that benefit most from this technological revolution.

It’s not just about adopting technology for the sake of it, but about deeply understanding how it can solve real problems and create genuine value. The news of the last 24 hours reinforces my conviction that we are only at the beginning of a profound transformation – and that Brazil has all the conditions to position itself as a protagonist in this scenario, as long as it invests in talent training and a robust innovation ecosystem.

In my career supporting over 10,000 startups, I have seen that the companies that best navigate this scenario are those that maintain a balance between enthusiasm for technology and pragmatism in its application. If you are building products or services based on AI, remember: the difference lies not only in the technology itself, but in how it solves real problems and creates meaningful experiences for people.

I will continue to closely monitor this evolution and share insights here on the blog. If you are leading a startup or company looking to integrate AI into your operations, my mentoring and consulting work focuses on finding this balance between technological innovation and sustainable value creation. The AI revolution is just beginning – and it is essential that we are prepared to navigate its waters with wisdom and purpose.
