In the era of digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) has infiltrated many sectors, including the literary world. Recently, an intriguing case caught my attention: a book written by AI that is causing concern among creative professionals. As someone who has closely followed the evolution of technology and its impact on entrepreneurship and innovation, I see this episode as an opportunity to reflect on the future of creative work.

The Book That Caused a Stir

According to a BBC News Brazil report, journalist Zoe Kleinman received a book titled 'Tech-Splaining for Dummies', written entirely by AI. The book, produced by the company BookByAnyone, was generated from basic information provided by a friend of the journalist.

This case leads us to ask: are we facing a revolution in the way we create content? Or is this just an isolated experiment without major consequences?

The Advancement of AI in Content Creation

As an entrepreneur and technology expert, I have seen the rapid advancement of AI in many areas. In the case of content creation, we have seen a significant increase in companies offering book writing services using AI. BookByAnyone, for example, has sold around 150,000 personalized books since June 2024, mainly in the United States.

This phenomenon isn’t limited to books. In my experience working with startups and innovation, I’ve seen AI being applied to a variety of content production methods, from articles and social media posts to scripts for videos and podcasts.

Ethical and Legal Challenges

The use of AI in content creation raises important questions about copyright and ethics. Ed Newton-Rex, founder of Fairly Trained, expresses valid concerns about the lack of copyright for artists whose works are used to train AI models.

As someone who has always advocated for responsible innovation, I believe we need to find a balance between advancing technology and protecting the rights of human creators. It’s a debate I have often had in my talks and consultancies on the future of work and innovation.

The Future of Creative Work

The anxiety expressed by creative professionals in the face of this advancement of AI is understandable. However, as I have emphasized in my work on the future of work, I believe the key lies in adapting and developing new skills.

In my CACACA methodology (Creativity and Autonomy; Collaboration and Adaptability; Connection and Affection), I highlight the skills that will be essential in the future of work. Human creativity, combined with the ability to collaborate and adapt, will continue to be an important differentiator.

AI as a Tool, not a Replacement

It’s important to understand AI as a powerful tool that can amplify our creative capabilities, not as a replacement for human talent. In my experience working with startups and innovation, I’ve seen inspiring examples of how AI can be used to enhance human creativity, not replace it.

Conclusion: Embracing Change

The case of the AI-written book is a reminder that we are living in an era of rapid technological transformation. As entrepreneurs, creative professionals and innovators, we need to be prepared to embrace these changes, adapting our skills and finding new ways to add value.

In my mentoring and consulting for startups and companies, I always emphasize the importance of staying up to date and open to new technologies. AI is not a threat, but an opportunity to reinvent the way we work and create.
