AI in Brazil: Between Advances, Challenges and Opportunities – A Realistic View of the Current Scenario
November 22, 2024 | by Matos AI
I begin this text by reflecting on a reality that I have observed daily in my journey in the innovation ecosystem: Artificial Intelligence is transforming everything around us, but we still face significant challenges in its adoption in Brazil.
A recent survey by Cisco, released in the last 24 hours, reveals a worrying fact: only 25% of Brazilian companies are prepared to implement AI solutions. This is a drop compared to the previous year, when this number was 29%.
At the same time, we see impressive advances in different sectors. In the legal area, for example, AI is revolutionizing everything from contract analysis to fraud identification. In health, technology is being integrated into nursing, optimizing processes and improving patient care.
In my experience leading innovation initiatives, I have learned that digital transformation is not just about technology, but about people and processes. It is critical that organizations understand that adopting AI requires a profound cultural shift.
However, we need to be aware of the challenges. The growing energy demand of AI is a real concern that needs to be addressed. As an entrepreneur committed to sustainability, I see that we need to find solutions that balance innovation and environmental responsibility.
The scenario is even more complex when we look at revolutionary scientific advances, such as the first AI capable of creating genetic material. This shows us the transformative potential of technology, but also highlights the importance of ethics and regulation.
Based on my experience at Startup Brasil and Startup Farm, I can say: now is the time to act. Companies that do not adapt run the risk of being left behind. However, adoption must be strategic and responsible.
For startups and companies that want to start their journey with AI, I suggest three fundamental steps:
- Investing in people training before technology
- Start with well-defined pilot projects
- Establish clear success metrics
The future of AI in Brazil depends on our ability to overcome these initial challenges and create an environment conducive to responsible innovation. It is a path that requires persistence, but the benefits for our society will be immense.
