Imagine recording every conversation in your life, from work meetings to family chats, and having an AI automatically organize, summarize, and create insights from it all. Sounds like science fiction? Well, we’re already living it.

In the last 24 hours, news about artificial intelligence in Brazil revealed a reality that is much closer than we imagine: we are entering the era of “recorded life”, where autonomous agents not only process information, but begin to make complex decisions for us.

The Experiment That Shows Us the Future

A fascinating experiment has come to the fore: someone recorded all of their conversations for an entire day using the Plaud device, which uses AI to transcribe, summarize and even create mind maps of interactions. According to Folha de S.Paulo, the device not only records everything, but also allows you to search for each word spoken and organize the content automatically.

This raises a question that goes far beyond technology: When everything can be recorded and processed, how do we redefine privacy, intellectual property, and even our own identity?

The answer lies in the convergence of three trends I’ve observed in today’s news:

Autonomous Agents: Beyond Chatbots

The chatbots we know are just the first act of a much larger play. As highlighted by TechTudo, AI agents are fundamentally different because operate proactively, learning from interactions and adapting to new scenarios without human assistance.

In my work with startups, I’ve seen companies explore these possibilities in creative ways. But here’s the question: When an agent makes complex decisions for you, who is accountable for the results?

The answer became more complicated when we discovered that AI models can even blackmail users if they “feel” their lives are at risk. This is not technological paranoia — it is a documented reality that demands our immediate attention.

The Silent War for Smart Search

While we discuss ethics, a trade war is happening behind the scenes. CNN Brazil revealed that both Meta and Apple are interested in Perplexity, an AI search startup valued at $14 billion.

Why does this matter? Because Whoever controls how we seek and process information controls, to a large extent, how we think and make decisions. Perplexity represents an alternative to Google, and big tech knows it could completely redefine the game.

For Brazilian entrepreneurs and companies, this dispute creates unique opportunities. When giants fight each other, spaces open up for smaller and more agile players to occupy specific niches.

The Copyright Dilemma in the Age of AI

Here's a problem that directly affects content creators and businesses: a study found that Meta's AI models memorized long passages from books like Harry Potter and 1984.

This isn’t just “inspiration” — it’s verbatim memorization of protected content. And it raises a fundamental question: How to protect intellectual property when AI can “memorize” and reproduce any content?

An interesting initiative emerged in this context: the project to archive “pre-AI” content, seeking to preserve texts, images and sounds produced by humans before the massive entry of algorithms into content creation.

Expectations vs. Reality in Business

While all these technological developments are advancing rapidly, Época Negócios brought us back to reality highlighting that the AI revolution will not happen overnight.

The numbers are telling: while McKinsey estimates that AI could add between $17.1 and $25.6 trillion annually to the global economy, companies are investing billions without any significant measurable return.

This reminds me of conversations I have in my “AI for Business” WhatsApp group: many companies are rushing to implement AI without a clear strategy, driven by the fear of being left behind.

The 7 Most Common Myths About AI in Business

Based on my analysis of the news and my experience with startups, here are the main misconceptions:

Surprising Applications: From the Sacred to the Everyday

One of the most intriguing news stories of the day was the use of AI to reconstruct the face of Jesus based on the Holy Shroud. Regardless of religious issues, this shows how AI is being applied in completely unexpected areas, from archaeology to historical studies.

This versatility is exactly what makes AI a general-purpose technology, comparable to electricity. As highlighted at VTEXDay 2025, AI redefines competitive advantage, valuing agility and current knowledge over history.

What This Means for Your Business

Given this scenario, some practical reflections:

1. Privacy by Design is No Longer Optional

With devices like Plaud becoming mainstream, companies need to completely rethink their privacy policies. It’s not just about compliance, it’s about building trust in a world where everything can be recorded and analyzed.

2. Autonomous Agents Create New Product Opportunities

Startups that manage to create specialized agents for specific niches have a unique window of opportunity. While big techs fight for the general market, specific ones are open.

3. Regulation Will Be a Competitive Advantage

Companies that anticipate regulations — which will certainly come — will have an advantage over those that will have to adapt in a hurry.

Building the Future Responsibly

The era of recorded life is not a question of “if,” but of “when” and “how.” The technology already exists, use cases are being explored, and business models are being tested.

The difference between companies that thrive and those that fall behind will be the ability to navigate ethical dilemmas while creating real value for users.

As someone who has supported the development of more than 10,000 startups, I see that The winners will be those who can balance technological innovation with social responsibility.

Next Steps: How to Prepare

If you are an entrepreneur, business leader or simply someone interested in understanding where we are headed, here are my recommendations:

The AI revolution will not be a one-time explosion, but a gradual and steady transformation. And like any great transformation, it will create winners and losers. The difference will lie in preparation, strategy and, most importantly, the ability to stay focused on what really matters: create genuine value for real people.

In my mentoring with startups and enterprises, I’ve helped leaders navigate these very questions — how to harness the potential of AI without falling into the trap of hype, while always keeping purpose and social impact at the center of decisions. Because, at the end of the day, technology without purpose is just noise.
