US Announces $500 Billion U$ AI Megaproject While Brazil Is Still In Its Infancy

In today's AI Bulletin, the global technology market was surprised by news that promises to reshape the artificial intelligence landscape in the coming years, while Brazil still shows worrying signs of slow adoption of this technology.
In a bold move, Donald Trump has announced the creation of Stargate, an initiative that will invest up to $1.4 billion in AI infrastructure in the US. The project, a partnership with giants such as OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank, is one of the largest technology investments in American history. According to G1, the project promises to generate 100 thousand direct jobs.
The impact was immediate on the financial market. According to Exame, tech stocks soared, with Oracle up 6% and Nvidia up 2.3%. It's a clear sign that the market is betting big on the future of AI.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian scenario shows a worrying contrast. A recent survey by Qive in partnership with Endeavor revealed that only 211% of Brazilian companies use AI in their daily operations. Even more alarming: 25% of those that do not use AI are not even considering adopting the technology in the near future.
In my experience supporting startups and large companies in their innovation journey, I have observed that this resistance to AI in Brazil often comes from fear of the unknown and lack of knowledge about its real benefits. Interestingly, a new study from the Journal of Marketing suggests that people with less knowledge about AI tend to accept it more, which presents us with an interesting paradox.
This is a time for reflection and action. The disparity between American mega-investment and our local reality is a red alert for the risk of falling even further behind in the global technology race. In my work with governments and support organizations, I always argue that we need more assertive public policies and more robust investments in digital infrastructure.
What can we do?
- Companies need to understand that AI is no longer optional – it is a matter of competitive survival
- Governments must create tax incentives and support programs for AI adoption
- Educational institutions need to accelerate the training of professionals prepared to work with AI
