AI in 2024: Between Sustainability, Costs and Global Impacts
November 21, 2024 | by Matos AI
The last 24 hours have been intense in the news about Artificial Intelligence. As someone who closely follows the innovation ecosystem, I notice fundamental trends that are shaping the future of technology in Brazil and around the world.
One of the highlights comes from IBM research which reveals an impressive fact: 411% of Brazilian organizations already use generative AI for sustainable practices in IT. This intersection between technology and sustainability reminds me a lot of what I experienced at Startup Farm, where we always looked for solutions that combined innovation and positive impact.
On the other hand, AWS points out that costs are still a challenge. As a venture capital fund manager at Inseed Investimentos, I can confirm that this is a reality that directly impacts early-stage startups. However, the downward trend in prices is encouraging and should democratize access to technology.
An important milestone was the inclusion of AI in the final G20 declaration by Brazil. This movement reminds me of the work we do at Dínamo, where we always defend the importance of well-structured public policies for technological development.
The sectoral impacts are also notable. In the insurance market, AI is revolutionizing processes and creating new possibilities. In the healthcare sector, AI-based systems are transforming diagnostics, something I have always defended in my work for more inclusive access to technology.
The most shocking news comes from WTO predicts 14% increase in global trade by 2040 thanks to AI. This data reinforces something I have always defended: innovation, when well directed, is a catalyst for economic and social development.
As an educator at Inteli, I see that we need to prepare the next generations for this scenario. The convergence between technology, sustainability and social impact is no longer an option – it is an imperative for the future.
